Awesome Sauce!

For my birthday my friend got me my own domain. So in an attempt to get to know it better, I placed all of my information for intermediate web design on it. Now, all the links work and all the css is behaving. This makes me very happy.

As a side note, working with my Tony Chu group has really helped me. Not only are they easy to get along with, but it was nice to be able to collaborate with them and learn from them.

Thank you Jamie, Neil, Patti, Kendra and Anqi.

Reading Import XML Document (http://www.quirksmode.org/dom/importxml.html) is like trying to learn Chinese in a hurricane.

I will have someone show me what the code means. I'll be able to understand it then.

Browser Compatibility

So.... um.... how do you fix a three pixel text jog?

The description box says: When anonymous line boxes (boxes that contain inline content) are adjacent to a float, a 3px gap appears between the line box and the edge of the float. This gap disappears when the content clears the float, causing the content to "jog" three pixels in the direction of the float. Note that the gap may be difficult to see when left-aligned text is adjacent to a right float, but it does exist -- and it can lead to "float drop" in tight layouts.

Affects: Internet Explorer 6.0
Likelihood: Likely

How do you fix this?
I'm having an issue with the navigation. I think I might understand it better if someone explained to me what the code meant. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think I'm right. So to get around the navigation I inserted links to the pages that would be there.

Also, I don't have my CSS book yet and I've been expecting it everyday since last week and I think I might get the homework more if I could do the reading. Just a thought. I won't get any credit but they'll get done once I get my book and all I care about is that I understand it by the end of the quarter. I've sent the company a tersely worded letter - maybe I'll get my money back - oooh. ;)

CSS = HULK SMASH!

It's 3:17 AM. I've been working on this since 10 pm. I had a gorgeous page up that came from the www.subcide.com site and the second I started the steps to make it work in IE everything disappeared.

I started all over. Now the problem is that I cannot get the CSS to import to the page and nothing is happening.

So now, I am without page and now without homework and I will be in tears at class tomorrow if I don't get at least some sleep. Hell, I'll probably be in tears anyway because I wanted to at least have something up and something to turn in. But now there is nothing. My Cascading Style Sheet book hasn't even come in so I haven't even done the reading for it. I read about validating, but I don't have anything to validate - like my presence in this major.

This sucks. This is not exactly the best foot for me to start off on and I really wish I had at least a screen shot of what I did to prove I'm not a complete idiot when it comes to following directions. I was actually pretty proud of what I had done before stupid IE got in the way.

Bummer. BIG BUMMER.
